Song Quality Explained

It’s all good and well deciding that you want to download some mp3s, but how do you know if what you’re getting is good, bad or ugly? How do you know the quality is going to be acceptable?

Well, all the mp3 sites I list on here tell you the quality of every tack on an album, so you can decide for yourself if you’re happy with it before you download it.

But how do you know what is good and what is bad quality?

Quality is always displayed as ‘Bitrate’.

So what are good and bad bitrates?

A Bitrate of 192 is CD quality. A Bitrate of 320 kbps is the highest quality an mp3 can be, so is obviously the best quality. Anything below 192 kbps is considered to be poor quality.

So before you download any songs, it’s always worth just having a glance at the Bitrate of the track to make sure you’re not getting something really bad quality that you can’t listen to.

MP3Million, LegalSounds, MP3va & Soundike all offer up to a Bitrate of 320.

mp3millionI’m always posting news about the cheap mp3 sites I have reviewed on here, but what I have never blogged about is which site is my favourite and which I would recommend. So I thought it was about time I did!

As you may have gathered, I love all four sites I have on here. They each have their own pros and cons, but they all stand out from the hundreds of other cheap mp3 sites on the web for me for one reason or another.

So, which one do I recommend?

Well, if you want cheap mp3s, LegalSounds is the site to use. With their songs being just 9¢ each, they are definitely the cheapest. Read Review…

If you want a low minimum top up, MP3va is the one for you with a $19.95 top up amount. Read Review…

If you want an all-rounder site, Soundike is for you. It’s up-to-date, has a good choice of music and great top up offers. Read Review…

And finally, if you want a huge music library, MP3Million is the site for you, with songs costing €0.10 (equal to 15¢) it’s the second cheapest. Read Review…

My Top Recommended Site: MP3Million. I have chosen MP3 Million as the top site because:

  • The music library dwarfs the other three sites with 400,000 more cheap mp3 songs
  • MP3 Million give you 10 free songs when you register with them. (Legal Sounds offer this too)
  • There is a large selection of payment methods
  • Their top up/sign up offers of free credit are very generous and are renewed regularly

Remember, all songs on MP3 Million are DRM free, so can be played anywhere on anything (as long as it plays mp3s of course). MP3 Million also have excellent customer service, so if you’re stuck with anything, they are very helpful and

MP3 Million Top Up Offers

mp3million_offerAs you might already know if you’ve read this blog before, MP3Million are constantly offering new customers free songs, free credit and other bits and bobs when you register and top up your account.

But if you’re already registered with MP3 Million, they have some good offers running for when you refill your balance.

When you go into MP3 Million’s ‘add to balance’ menu, you are given several options. Three of which are credit card payments. Each has a different offer.

The first payment option, titled:

Pay 50 EUR with VISA, Visa Electron, MasterCard, Maestro or PayPal and get 1500 downloads for 1 month.”
gives you free downloads for 1 month depending on the amount topped up.

Head over to MP3Million now to get a great offer on cheap mp3s.

MP3va Payment Method Change

mp3valogo MP3va have always been one of the better sites because they accepted PayPal as a payment method. They have now removed this feature from their site. You can still pay by MasterCard and Visa.

I contacted them about this, and you can still pay by PayPal. You need to go into PayPal, click ‘send money’. Send it to webmaster@freshlyrics.net with your email address as the description. Once you’ve done this, you need to send them a quick email saying what PayPal account they will be receiving money from, the amount (minimum of $25.00 still applies) and what MP3va account you want refilled.

They will do the rest. So if you’re uncomfortable about giving out credit card details, there is a way round this. I’m sure if we contacted LegalSounds, MP3Million or Soundike, they have the same sort of procedure in place to allow you to pay by PayPal.

Soundike Site Update

soundikelogo Soundike have updated their site to include brand new albums, in the new releases section. The number of tracks on the site has also increased, always good to hear, even more cheap mp3s to buy!

New additions include ‘The Prodigy – Invaders Must Die’ and ‘Madonna – Pleasure Principles’ both costing just $1.32 each.

Go to Soundike now to see what other great new releases and hot additions are on the site and get your hands on some really cool cheap mp3 albums.

Another Offer From MP3 Million

I’m getting bored of writing about MP3Million and their endless offers! They are running yet another great deal to hook you into using them instead of the next best site. Don’t get me wrong, I love that they are always offering us more and more, but it is hard to keep up to date with their deals!

Here’s the current sign up offer on the site:

If you top up €20.00, MP3 Million will give you 300 free songs
If you top up €30.00, MP3 Million will give you 400 free songs
If you top up €50.00, MP3 Million will give you 700 free songs

mpmillion-offer

By ‘current sign up offer’, I really mean permanent offer! It’s been running on and off for a very long time. So if you sign up with any mp3 site, make sure you check MP3 Million for this, or any other offer they have going.

The number of free songs they give you is excessive, but when it comes to music and free stuff in the same sentence, how much is too much?

New Releases from MP3va

121762 MP3va have added some hot new albums to their homepage this week, so if you’re after a new release, MP3va is the place to go to get it cheaply!

Depeche Mode – Sounds of the Universe is going to cost you just $1.56, compared to iTunes £7.99, which currently works out to be $11.72. That makes iTunes over $10.00 more expensive.

Here’s some more examples of just how cheap these mp3s are:

Madonna – Pleasure Principles = $1.32 compared to iTunes who don’t have it at all.

Keith Urban – Defying Gravity = $1.32, and iTunes yet again don’t have the album yet.

So you see what I mean, iTunes charges more and is just a little bit pants to be honest. MP3va is very up to date, cheap and incredibly easy to use.

Soundike & MP3va Easter Offers

soundike easter offerSoundike and MP3va are offering some Easter deals for everyone.

Soundike are giving $5.00 extra to customers who top up over the Easter period. This means that when you top up $25.00, Soundike will give you $15.00 extra. When you top up $50.00, you will get $55.00. This is $5.00 extra on top of their usual top up offers.

MP3va are reducing their track price from 15¢ per songs to just 10¢. This is a great offer, meaning you can get loads more cheap mp3s! So make sure you download as much as you can from MP3va before Monday comes and it’s all over.

These offers are only running for two days over Easter, so get them while you can. They will expire on the 19th April, so head over to Soundike or MP3va now for a great deal.

mp3va-easter

legalsoundsofferIt’s very rare for LegalSounds to be running a promotion, deal or offer, but they  have updated their site a little, changed their homepage a bit and added a new offer.

Previously, registering with  Legal Sounds would get you nothing more than a thank you email, and their free song of the day, everyday.

Other companies have always given you something extra, MP3va & Soundike give 30¢ credit and MP3Million give you 10 free songs. Legal Sounds have always been the cheapest, but never given us an extra incentive to sign up with them over MP3va, Soundike or MP3 Million.

But now, for whatever reason, after registering with Legal Sounds (which is FREE to do), they are giving you 10 Free Songs of your choice to download.

If you combine this with their top up offers, you have a really nice deal going on.

So, for example, if you sign up right now, you will get 10 free songs. If you then top up your account with $39.00, Legal Sounds give you 50 free songs. That’s 60 free songs before you’ve even used the money on your account.

Total all that up, and you have got 493 songs for $39.00. Move over iTunes, Legal Sounds is coming!

And that’s just based on their basic offer, image how much more you could have with their larger offers. Click here to go to Legal Sounds now and grab this offer.
